It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for… Ok, at least the moment I really look forward to all week– It’s Five Minute Friday!
For those of you just joining our 7 Days Time Journey… Each Friday, I link up with The Gypsy Mama. She gives us a prompt. Then we write. For five minutes flat. No overthinking, no excessive editing.
It’s been a crazy week in the world of ministry, so enough chitty chatting from my end. Let’s get to it.
Todays prompt: SEE
GO!
*****
Beep, beep, beep! My alarm. My arms flail towards my nightstand, slapping my phone to make it stop. Very slowly, I open my eyes. For a few brief moments, my vision is blurry. But soon my eyes adjust to the world around me and I can see. It’s going to be a good day.
But sometimes it doesn’t quite happen so nicely. Ever had anyone come into the room and throw on the light with no warning? OW! GEEZ! OK, I’m up! (And you better run, cuz I am coming after you. THAT HURT.)
That method words to help me wake up and see as well… but it is a lot less pleasant.
Waking up is hard to do. (Isn’t that a song? Oh wait…) If we are completely honest with ourselves, we could probably agree that most of us are living in darkness, blind to the world around us. But we all have One thing that can clear up our sight and wake us up immediately– but way less painfully than just throwing on the light.
Jesus.
That’s right. Jesus is our light to help us see. And He wakes us up ever-so-gently. (Unless we refuse to wake up and see at all– but that’s another blog post.)
Amazing Grace was (and still is) one of my favorite hymns when I was growing up. In fact, I used to sit on the sink counter, and sing it alongside my Daddy as we “shaved” our faces together. “Twas blind, but now I see.”
What an incredible promise. Jesus can gently and lovingly be the light that helps us wake up and see the world around us.
All we have to do is open our eyes.
STOP!

Ahhh… The Five Minute Friday rush never gets old. Such a refreshing exercise! Oh, and by the way… Don’t be shy… If you feel so led, leave a comment below. Seriously, hearing from you wonderful Jesus cheerleaders is so encouraging and keeps us rocking and rolling here at 7 Days Time.
Praying that your weekend rocks and I will see you right back here on Monday.
Five Minute Friday High Five,

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!” -1 Corinthians 13:12 (MSG)
