So, at this point in the Knobloch-family-army-moving shenanigans, we had arrived at our new home-destination… But of course, the “fun” didn’t stop there. Keep reading for the ups and downs of transitioning to our new-to-us Georgia home.

PCS log, day 15… Today was… Eventful?
1. Yes. I changed the “title” of these daily posts. Hope all my OCD peeps can pull through the change. We are no longer traveling (for the moment) but our army family transitions are far from over.
2. We got a house. So yay for no longer being homeless. However…
3. It is what the army lovingly calls a “Legacy” home. Aka: older. Like 25 years. Which in real people world isn’t too bad. But in army wife life, that translates to likely 8+ families have lived here.
4. Grateful it’s big enough and will suit our purposes… Definitely going with the motto we’ve tried to teach Charis: “You get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit.”
5. Um, practicing what you preach is hard. #AskMeHowIKnow
6. We did our move-in inspection and the housing lady gave up and left us to finish it ourselves after an hour and a half of pointing out all the “prior damage.” And that was just the exterior, garage and part of downstairs.
7. During said inspection, Brandon opened a window UP and it fell IN on his head. Some blood. No stitches. One housing incident report and administering first aid via super gluing his own forehead later, we took a lunch break.
8. Not exactly sure why we had super glue but no band aids in our personal belongings…
9. Completed the dreaded “first Wal-Mart trip after moving.” We refrained from excessive weeping and gnashing of teeth at checkout. Although we were tempted to don sack clothe and ashes. But fortunately, Wal-Mart was out of both items.
10. We are gonna be kicking it old school… Because we have to get a landline phone. #CallMeBeepMeIfYouWannaReachMe #ButOnlyIfIAmAtHome#OrOnTheTopOfAMountain

PCS log, day 16: Our version of Dia de los Insects Muertos (Day of the dead bugs)
1. Dead scorpion upstairs by air mattress= NopityNopeNopeNOPE
2. Brandon installed our fence in the back yard. He screamed the first time, enough for me to think he injured himself (again.) Nope. Huge centipede. Later, the post hole he was digging ran directly into a nest of ground wasps.
3. Yes, he got stung. No, he’s not allergic. #GeorgiaGivesUsQuiteTheBuzz
4. In related news, RAID works great and has been my smartest Wal-Mart investment yet.
5. Today, I cleaned. A lot. I have pretty low standards for housekeeping to begin with, but the dirt and dead bugs were doing a number on my allergies and still-lingering bronchitis. Fortunately, my rage of having to clean former tenant boogers fueled the process.
6. So grateful for Thieves essential oil cleaner. It was my first time using it, and it rocked. Even though Brandon said the house smelled like “pine sap” (which he says about all EO products.)
7. “Pine sap” is a better smell than musty feet and dead spiders.
8. We celebrated our war on insects by exploring our new town. Dahlonega is cool. I could buy all Christmas gifts in one walk around the square. While eating chocolate covered bacon (for $41/lb.)

PCS transition log, day 17:
1. We are slowly starting to meet people and get connected. Talk about encouragement for the heart!
2. Words simply cannot express how excited I am to get wireless internet (and even a land line phone) so I can more efficiently communicate with the outside world in our actual home instead of in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
3. Speaking of Wal-Mart, we made our 3rd consecutive daily trip there today. I heard whispers that they will be building a new one via the profit from this PCS… Just hope they name it after us!
4. Today’s theme song: “Just keep cleaning, cleaning, cleaning… What do we do, we clean it, clean it!”
5. Church shopping is like dating… We ask ourselves similar questions: Are we compatible? Does it make our heart flutter? Could we spend hours just sitting and listening to them talk? Do they like the same kind of music as us? Close to same age? Will they hook me up with coffee?
6. Related note: had a good church dating experience today, but we don’t think they are “the one.” Trying again next week!
7. Finally completed our housing pre-inspection walk-thru today. God bless our maintenance man Vince… Because tomorrow we are submitting 36 work orders.
