It is that time of year again.
Christmas music is drifting through the radio waves. Conversations with acquaintances revolve around the upcoming plans for the holiday season. Menus are planned, tickets booked, lists made.
Joy and gratitude abound. For most people.
But for some of us, the holidays make our heart ache from the very bottom of our soul.
Perhaps we face the holidays with our beloved husband separated from us by an ocean (or two.)
Maybe we lost someone near to us this year.
We might even be checking and rechecking the bank statements, realizing that money is just too tight to make that traditional trip home.
Sometimes the absolute last thing we want to do is celebrate.
And you know what? That is ok. Not every holiday season has to be filled with endless joy revolving around “brown copper kettles, warm woolen mittens and brown paper packages tied up with string.”
Even in our lowest moment in our hardest season, there is still something to celebrate.
God is still God.
He knows you, sees you, loves you and understands your heart. That alone is grounds for us to be grateful.
So what do we do when we don’t feel like being grateful this holiday season?
Be thankful anyway.
But just how, how, HOW are we supposed to do that? Keep reading over at Wives of Faith to find out.
How is your heart this holiday season? Are you embracing the holidays with open arms? Or is your heart weighed down by sorrows, pain or separation? Please don’t be shy… Leave a comment. I would love to pray for you.
Trust God’s plan for you this holiday season. Rest in Him. Rejoice in the salvation through Jesus Christ. Find Jesus in your everyday. Ask for His help. And no matter what you do, my friend…
Be Thankful Anyway.
Thankful anyways,
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe…” ~Hebrews 12:28 NIV
