Celebrating 7 years & Our Golden Blogiversary (Giveaway)

Today, let’s celebrate!

No, I didn’t manage to train my toddler boy to stop dumping sticky substances on the floor within minutes of me sweeping and/or mopping (if anyone has a hack for this, let me know. Better yet, I will hire you to clean up after our son). And no, my kindergarten daughter has not yet realized that mismatched socks or misplacing her favorite shorts does not require some level of tears.

Today, we celebrate seven (SEVEN!) years of ministry here at 7 Days Time.

And really, since we have “7” in our name, I think this counts as our Golden Blogiversary. [Read more…]

Challenge Complete: #My500words

I’m not really a resolution-y kind of gal.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all about fresh starts, especially when it comes to God’s mercies being new everyday or facing Monday’s with enthusiasm and drive. (Well, most of the time anyway.)

But for January 2014, God was all about the fresh starts for me. I didn’t make any resolutions. Instead, God called me to some pretty powerful God-sized dreams.

A couple of them are fitness dreams (one is that this asthmatic shall be running a 10k <that’s 6.2 miles!> in March) one is financial, a couple are spiritual. [Read more…]

A Brief Lil Breather

Hi friends! Just wanted to let you know…

1. We are still alive.

2. Life is hectic, but blessed.

3. I am taking a brief lil breather from blogging… Don’t worry, it’s only for a few days. (4 blog posts worth… if you don’t count this one.) I won’t be blogging for the next week ish or so,  as we start settling into our new home (and won’t have legit internet connection.) Plus, in the almost two years I have been blogging, I have only taken one blogging vacay, and that was involuntary when I got stupid sick with pneumonia while I was pregnant about this time last year.

Good times. [Read more…]

Everyday Jesus: The Smiling Square Faces

Are you ready for yet another incredible installment of our “Everyday Jesus” guest blogging series? I sure hope so… because this one, written by my sweet friend Amy, is a doozy. Her perspective will surely make your scratch your head (in a good way!) and her personality will make you want to reach through the screen and drag her to Starbucks for a face-to-face chat about… well, anything! This gal is an incredibly talented writer and such a passion for Jesus that it’s contagious.

So yes, meet Amy. And be sure to show her the love both here and over at her place!

Always impressed by Him,
SGK

It’s easy to lose track of Jesus online. Bloggers blast out words at all times of day and night. Pieces of truth they are learning, and that truth is usually accompanied by a beautiful picture with a moving piece of scripture inscribed in cool font.Tweets and likes and +1’s, cloud my thinking, and it doesn’t make sense that Jesus can be the topic of almost every post I read and yet, somehow go missing. When I start feeling like this, I know it’s time to unplug, and I do so happily.Who will notice I am missing?Surely, the smiling, square faces from Arizona, Arkansas, and across the ocean are busy, and if I close shop for a time, it would go undetected. *Insert speculation about the quality of my online relationships. Everyday Jesus: Coincidence?

Ever have those friends or people in your life that you just simply ADORE? I do– and today’s guest post is brought to you by just one of those such people… Kelli is not only my dear friend, but she is also a mentor, coach, “boss,” and encourager in my life. I have been privileged to work alongside her for over a year and a half, in which time we have laughed together, cried together and grown in Christ together.

She is a talented speaker and writer– so please show her lots of love (both here and at her site via leaving comments) as she shares her heart today on the latest and greatest edition of “Everyday Jesus!”

Be Blessed,

SGK

I remember running late taking my kids to school one morning several years ago. I was frustrated. They were in tears. Instead of speeding and risking getting a ticket or being involved in an accident and making my morning even worse, I decided to slow down. We were just going to have to be late. And I began to pray that God would show me Himself. “God, give me patience. Make me a better parent. Help my kids get their act together!” (You know, the usual prayers when you are late and frustrated.) Out of nowhere, a peacock came out of the woods and began to cross the road. Seriously. I thought I was losing my mind. I live in mid-Georgia. Last time I checked, we don’t have peacocks running wild. [Read more…]

Everyday Jesus: God Cares for Our Basic Needs

Welcome to another edition of our guest post blogging series “Everyday Jesus!” Today’s guest blogger, Laura, is one of my great online gal-pals… Her writing is an inspiration– and today’s post is absolutely no exception! Be sure to show sweet Laura some love– both here at 7 Days Time and over at her place by leaving a comment. (Hint, hint, wink, wink…)

Have you ever noticed that everything seems worse when you’re tired or hungry?

Think about it. You might not be having the best day, but it’s not awful. And then, as you go from meeting to meeting or run errands, you miss lunch. And what happens? You get cranky. Maybe a headache comes on. You lose your patience with co-workers or your kids. And your day has gone from bad to worse.

This was me a few weeks ago, but not because I missed lunch.

I did something to my back, although I don’t really know what. One minute I was fine. The next minute I sat down for dinner, and I felt something slip out-of-place. It was painful, but not awful. [Read more…]

SURPRISE! Everyday Jesus Series Intro

Not gonna lie… I just love it when a profound and exciting Jesus idea pops into my head.

Seriously. There are few things more motivating.

As we approach the birth of our first child, a season/event which my husband and I fondly call BabyTime, I have spent significant time thinking/praying as to what ministry will look like when our “Little Patriot” makes his/her debut into our lives.

My answer: I have no idea.  [Read more…]

Oh Look– Something Shiny! (Five Minute Friday)

Greetings all! It is Friday (whoot!) and if you have been hanging ’round these parts for a hot minute, you know that Fridays can only mean one thing…

Five Minute FridayProductivity is optional.

(Just kidding. If you are at work, you better get busy before your boss reads this over your shoulder and you end up having a “Come to Jesus” chat with him.)

But seriously. Fridays mean it is time for Five Minute Friday.

Each week, I link up with my friend Lisa-Jo Baker. She gives us a prompt and we free-write for five minutes flat. No over-thinking, no OCD perfectionistic editing.

Just go with it. Which I do believe is a perfect attitude for a Friday.

So my fingers are itching… Let’s do this.

Today’s prompt: FOCUS

Ready? GO! [Read more…]

On our Tippy Toes (Five Minute Friday)

Hello all! We have made it to another Friday once again. (See, no matter what you do or don’t get done today, you can at least say you survived (and hopefully thrived) through another week!)

Fridays are extra special ’round these parts. It is the day where I link up with our favorite Gypsy Mama Lisa-Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday.

Five Minute Friday is just like it sounds– she gives us a prompt, then we write for five minutes. Sounds easy enough, yes?

Five Minute Friday

Here’s the kicker– As we let the words flow, there is no over-thinking or editing. We just go with it and see what Jesus comes up with via our fingers in five minutes.

Today’s prompt: STRETCH

Ready? GO! [Read more…]
