In all my years of being a grown-up, I have minimal experience with buying “real” and “new” furniture.

Let me explain.

Right out of college, I bought a lot of new “furniture” but it didn’t fall into the “real” category. It was all particle board. (Think: Ramen noodle budget.) Nothing against the lower-quality furniture, but I purchased it with the intention that it would undoubtedly someday be replaced.

Which is true. Six years and three moves later, all that remain are a very wobbly bookshelf that will meet its demise on our next move and a very simple desk in the office.

All of our other furniture is purchased second-hand or given to us by very generous friends/family.

Which is why my recent purchase of a BRAND NEW HIGH-QUALITY recliner for our living room was kind of a big deal. [Read more…]

A Lil Rest Stop

I have to be honest.

I am really tired.

Actually, “weary” might be a more accurate word.

There’s a lot going on in our dear little Knobloch household, from my sweet husband’s crazy drill sergeant schedule to my bout with pneumonia (still ongoing), ministry, life decisions etc.

So yes, I’m weary. [Read more…]

Sabbatical brought to you by: Generosity and Grace

Many of us have dreams of where we would like to visit or vacation. Perhaps the beach. Maybe the mountains. Or it could be somewhere ritzy.

For me… I just wanted… AWAY.

God called me to come away with Him this weekend. I had some incredible time alone, by myself, just Jesus and I in Pine Mountain, Georgia. He recharged my heart, mind and soul for doing His work. I could talk about the words He spoke to me for about a month’s worth of blog posts. But I will spare you all of the major details… For now. 😉 (Don’t worry– Thanks to this weekend, I’ve got plenty of new Jesus revelations to share AMERICA! ) [Read more…]

Red Light, Green Light… Yellow Light

Isn’t it funny how things in adult life can bring you back to the departed days of youth?

Ok, that sounded a little deeper than I originally intended. (Don’t worry this post isn’t going to be that deep, I promise. We are on leave from the army for the holiday. As is my brain.) [Read more…]

Just Breathe

STOP. Right there.

Don’t move. Take a deep breath. In the nose and out the mouth… Seriously. Do it.  That wasn’t good enough. Try again. We aren’t moving on til you do. In the nose, out the mouth.

Ahhhhh… Feel better? I do.

Honestly, I didn’t know if you felt “un-good” to start with… but sometimes life can get hurried. Like, a lot. Busyness isn’t really biased to one day of the week, and stress can strike at anytime. Yes, even Fridays. [Read more…]

No Panic Needed

My beloved and I just returned from a four-day anniversary mini-vacay in the North Georgia mountains. Ahhhhhhhhh….

First of all, it was awesome. Nature is cool. Mountains are legit (not many of those in Kansas where I come from.) The cabin we stayed in was cozy. And our baby dog Justus behaved (it was his first overnight road trip.)

That being said– we have left what we like to call “pretend-land” and returned to reality. I have heard many folks say “I love to travel, but I hate the moment that I arrive home.” I have to admit, I used to be one of those people, easily overwhelmed by the TO DO list waiting at my doorstep the minute I check out of pretendland.  Time to hit the PANIC BUTTON!!! But not anymore. [Read more…]
