Business or Personal Relationship? #WilcoWednesday

Welcome to Wilco Wednesday! If you are a new around these parts, “Wilco” is Army-speak for “Will Comply.” Think of it as saying “Roger, God. Got it. Will do.”  So that is what Wednesday here at 7 Days Time is all about– exploring his decrees and seeking guidance for what complying with Him looks like in everyday life. The best part? He loves us for who we are, not what we do.  Remember: He doesn’t want perfection, just obedience. Share. Enjoy. Interact. And let’s respond to God’s call with  a hearty “Wilco, Lord!”  Welcome today my wise and loving friend, Katharina as she shares her heart with us.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” John 15:5 ESV

For the last couple of months, the Lord has been teaching me to sit still at his feet and listen to his voice as he fills my inmost desires.

In the past, my prayers started with: “Lord, what would you like me to DO next? How shall I DO this? Give me strength to DO it. Could you reveal to me your plan for my life? <so I can move forward without you…>

Can you see a pattern? [Read more…]

Here we are – 2016 has begun!

I could happily write a blog about Christmas cheer and ambitious New Year resolutions.  I could talk about all my hopes and diet plans for the year ahead.  I want to write about those things.  But God has something else in mind for our time together today….

On Christmas Eve, after the cheerful day was winding down, my husband and I began reflecting on a rather deep question.  “What does the state of our world look like to someone who has not entered into a committed relationship with Jesus Christ?”  Whoa.  That’s heavy.  We tried to look objectively at the facts that fill our Facebook newsfeeds and nightly television broadcasts.  The world is riddled with brokenness, heartbreak, bondage, and disease.  We see parents behaving like children, and children being forced to grow up too fast.  We hear of murder in our neighborhoods, our schools, our churches.  We see people being persecuted and refugees fleeing in fear for their lives.  We watch as this happens around us and debate about who or what to blame.  Lessened morals result in stricter laws, and we continue to move towards political correctness with good intention to love our neighbors as ourselves.  [Read more…]

In the See-You-Later Moments (Three-Word Wednesday)

See You Later moments

As an army wife, I have had my fair share of “see-you-later” moments.

I call those challenging farewell experiences “see-you-later” moments because I despise the word goodbye. “Goodbye” seems so… final.

And if you are a Jesus lover like me, there is no finality to the separation with our fellow Jesus-lovers.

This truth alone gives me strength/courage/hope to get out of bed each day and face whatever challenges God has divinely placed in my path.

Although I sound all macho-rock-star-confident about the see-you-later moments in my life, I wasn’t always like that.

I remember my first “see-you-later” moment with my then-boyfriend-yet-soon-to-be-husband Brandon.

Building a Christ-Like Marriage: Have Fun!

I used to be quite the fun-lover.

Please notice the operative phrase there: “Used to be.”

Growing up, I was also ready for an adventure, be it catching frogs in the pond or swimming in the stock tank. In college, I was usually the first one loaded in the car when somebody said “road trip” and thoroughly enjoyed spontaneous escapades of fun.

Even when Barn and I were dating and first married, fun was easy to come by.

And then… Life happened. [Read more…]

Building a Christ-Like Marriage: Let’s get Physical

In college, we used to have a saying:

“It’s only weird if you make it weird. So don’t make it weird, OK?”

And that is going to be the slogan for today’s blog post. Because as we discuss the building blocks of creating a Christ-like marriage, we really can’t leave out the, um, errr, ahem… Physical part.

See, there I go. Making it weird before we even get this party started. [Read more…]

In the Garden (Revisited)

I am smack dab in the middle of learning what it means to be a new Mama while moving across the country. No big deal, right?  (It is an adventure, that is for sure!) So today as I considered what bloggy ministry message God wanted me to share, He put this one on my heart. (Actually, He put the song on Pandora which made me think of this post written a little while ago…)

As my Beloved Brandon and I make new memories with our little one as we seek out our new home with the army, I couldn’t help but get all gushy thinking about my parents. This post recalls one of my favorite childhood memories with my dad… and my heavenly Father.

Where do you go to meet with the Father? I would love to hear all about it. Feel free to comment below!

Praying today is full of Him!

Growing up in northwest Kansas as the daughter in a farming/ranching family provided me with many chances to “get away.” Ok, let’s be honest– we were 90 miles from the nearest Wal-Mart. We were always “away,” so actually going somewhere aka civilization was a big deal. [Read more…]

True Love Is… (Just A Quick Reminder)

Hello darling readers… due to my continued exhaustion via life/pneumonia/army, I am taking a quick brain breather and resharing with you one of my favorite posts… about marriage and Jesus. (Two of my favorite topics!)  I would love to hear your fresh thoughts on what YOU believe true love really is in your life– in marriage, in your relationship with Christ or when/where ever! Leave a comment below. (Please and thank you.)

Thanks for your continued patience while I get back on my feet. Looking forward to getting back in the groove sooner than later. (Jesus willing.)

Much love,

True love is…

I can think of a variety of descriptions for “True Love,” specifically within marriage. Some of these ideas include rewarding, challenging, refreshing, educational, hilarious, frustrating, growth-oriented, blessed… Oh, and we can’t forget that true love in marriage is precious (both truly precious and also sometimes a little sarcastically precious.)

We’ve already talked about the aspects of the first year of marriage that Brandon and I have experienced in a previous post entitled A Butterfly Year. But I was reminded today (and for the last year or so) how truly precious true love can be, especially within our marriage. [Read more…]
