Chocolate & Jesus

When the going gets tough… the tough get going.

Now, let’s tweak that statement a bit…  Complete it  with YOUR word… what do you desire/need/turn to when things get tough?

Here are a few of my potential examples.

When the going gets tough… the tough get frustrated.
When the going gets tough… the tough get take-out. (I’m an emotional eater. What can I say?)
When the going gets tough… the tough get snippy. (Not proud of this one—but it’s true.)
When the going gets tough… the tough get chocolate. (No explanation necessary, right?) [Read more…]

God’s Country

I have to be honest with you. Sometimes I worship best OUTSIDE of the church doors.

Literally. As in, out of doors. I’m not your hardcore sleep-in-the-woods-for-weeks-on-end kind of gal, but I sure do appreciate the majesty that is God’s creation.

Recently, as we were traveling across this great country per our move with the army, I had a pretty legit opportunity to worship God via His creation through 14 different states. We traveled 3,785 miles (but who was counting??) and I added hundreds of gifts to my 1000 gift list (that has now busted past 2000.) [Read more…]

Happy “Dependence” Day (And no, that’s not a typo)

Today’s post is a blast from the past… Enjoy!

****

In case you didn’t get the memo via the numerous Facebook posts, the shortage of hotdogs and burgers at the store, or the large late night explosive sounds…

It’s Independence Day. Happy 4th of July!

Today, we celebrate our freedom. What a blessing it is to live in the United States! (Somebody bring me a sparkler!!)

But even more than our patriotic freedom… Let’s celebrate our freedom in Christ. When He took His last breath on the cross, our chains were broken. We were no longer bonded by sin.

We have a hope and a future… And that’s even more awesome than fireworks and cookouts. [Read more…]

Our Heart and Macaroni Art (In case you forgot…)

On a scale of one to ten… where is your heart with God today? I ran across the post below as I was walking down bloggy memory lane– I remember a brief season when I was disconnected to Him– and how He brought me back around.

If you find yourself in the same boat (or anywhere near the boat… on the shore, in the lighthouse, whatever) check out this reminder post below… and grab ahold of the love God is offering to you! Oh, and as usual– feel free to comment. 🙂

Loving Him,
SGK

I saw him from a distance. My heart started to pound. I smoothed my hair and gave myself a mental brownie point for wearing my favorite shirt. I considered moving closer to him… but he turned and started walking toward me. My breathing sped up. He was coming. He was beautiful. And I knew I belonged to him. [Read more…]

The ‘Where’s Waldo’ books and puzzles have been around for years….since 1987 to be exact.  Some are more challenging than others.  You’ve seen these, right?  Waldo and other characters are always dressed in bright red and white stripes, which would suggest that they would be rather easy to pick out in a crowd.  As it turns out, however, it’s not really that simple. Leftovers: Only For Eating (A Refresher)

As a new Momma… I am SUPER hungry. Like, all the time… And as I was thinking about a post to share with you all, this one popped into my head. It is one of the very first I wrote when we launched this ministry over a year and a half ago… And while my writing style might have evolved and developed, God’s message still stands firm.

Enjoy a fresh batch of God’s word– I promise His love is better than any leftovers you have waiting for you in the fridge.

On that note… I think I need a snack.

Chowing down with Christ,

Ready for a quick trip down memory lane? Sweet, let’s go. When I was growing up, one of my favorite foods was… (wait for it…) leftovers. Yes, we were the family that it was totally legit to eat the leftover lasagna from supper for breakfast the next day. I remember in middle school we were writing our “Newsletter” and did a survey of our tiny student body of their favorite “after school snack.” There was one write-in vote for “Leftovers.” Fortunately for me,  the surveys were anonymous and when everyone literally laughed out loud at the ridiculousness (practicality?) of the thought, I never owned up that twas I who wrote that as my favorite snack.
