When you Wreck… Rejoice!

Ever have a day that is just awesome and  totally rocks your world?

And then have you ever experienced something at the end of that awesome day that rocks your world in a less positive way?

Yep. It happened to me just a couple of weeks ago.

I had planned several weeks in advance to take a bit of a sabbatical day from ministry, blogging, writing, working etc. I was super excited because it was going to be a filled with Me Time… I started out with Quiet Time with Jesus (of course) then headed out into the world for a day of relaxation and rejoicing. First stop? Starbucks… It was free because I had a gift card left over from Christmas. (And a real treat because I don’t get Starbucks very often. I love it– but it adds up quick financially!) Five Minute Friday
It’s a good time. Won’t you join us?

No overthinking. No excessive editing. Just going with the flow.

It’s a great workout– and you don’t even have to leave your comfy chair.

Dressed for Battle

I love routine.

ESPECIALLY my morning routine.

Depending on which day of the week it is, as in if I am working from home or will be going into church to work, here’s the general thought on how it goes.

Wake up. Take a deep breath. Release my day to God before my crazy-lady achiever brain takes over thinking of the 40 million things I want to accomplish during the day. (This step took practice. As in, lots of practice.) Say a little prayer for the coming day. Hoist myself out of bed. Unplug/grab my cell phone. Quick stop at the bathroom. (Sorry– is that TMI? We all do it.) Check self in the mirror. Result? Disheveled hair and sleepy eyes. Brush teeth. Turn off the ceiling fan and trot (plod? stumble) downstairs. [Read more…]

10 Commandments of Pregnancy: For the Preggos Themselves

Over the past several months, my beloved hubby and I have been privileged to experience the joy of pregnancy. This lil one has been cooking for 8 months now– and we have learned A LOT. (I know, I know– the real learning doesn’t start til he/she gets here. But we have learned/grown in the meantime.)

I have published a couple of humorous (yet true) posts in the past dealing with the 10 Commandments of Pregnancy for Husbands and 10 Commandments of Pregnancy for Friends/Family/Strangers. Both articles have been well-received, but honestly, I was feeling a bit left out.

That’s right. Today’s post is all about the 10 Commandments of Pregnancy… for the preggos themselves. [Read more…]

Redefining Balance

Balance. It can be such a “heavy” word. (Pun intended.)

2013 is looking like it could be a shake-up year– not in a bad way, but with a new (aka our first) baby on the way and 2,800 mile move per duty station change looming quickly there after, things could get interesting.

Perhaps you are facing a similar year. (Or had one of those last year.) We aren’t facing our future with fear– which we are thrilled about– but rather just awareness that this might not be easy. [Read more…]

Fast. Cheap. Quality. Pick Two.

Let’s be honest… we are all kind of spoiled.

Now before you get all persnickety, let me explain. If you are reading this from a computer or an iPhone or some kind of technical device (yes, even if it is at work) you are sitting pretty good. If you are reading this from a place that has heat (or air conditioning, depending upon which hemisphere you reside in), you are pretty well off. And hey– I’m no exception– I’m writing this in my “comfy clothes” in my recliner, cuddling with our pup, heater running in a warm, dry house on my computer.

I think I’m doing alright. [Read more…]

Undercover Opportunity (Five Minute Friday)

After a month-long (ish) hiatus, Five Minute Friday is back, folks!

Five Minute Friday

Who’s excited? This girl! (I’ve missed Lisa Jo Baker’s finger wind-sprint work outs.)

For those of you who are new ’round these parts, here’s how it works: Each Friday, Lisa gives us a prompt. Then we write. For five minutes flat. No over thinking, no editing. Just going with the flow.

Then we pop over to her place and link up. Simple as that. (Where IS my Easy Button??)

Ready to get back in the groove? Let’s get this party started.

Todays Prompt: Opportunity

The Power of One Word: 2013

Believe it or not, one word can make quite a difference in a conversation, in a blog post, and yes, even in a life.

I participated in the “One Word” challenge for the first time in 2012. For the entire 12 months, God helped me to learn, grow and be shaped around the word “Dependence.”

Now that 2013 is upon us (Happy New Year, by the way!) it is time for a new challenge.

I’ve been praying for the last month or so for my new word… And today is the big reveal… READY?

Drum roll please… [Read more…]

Christ-mas, Christ-More (Just in case you forgot)

We hear it all the time– we need to celebrate the real reason for the season. It’s true, but really, I think we hear it so much that it  doesn’t quite have the meaning that is used to… (Sad, I know… but alas…)

So this year, I want to share with you a little reminder and share with you what we did for our families this year for Christmas. Its edited and updated from a similar post this time last year… Hope it makes you think– and I would love your feedback. Comment below.

Ready? Let’s do this… [Read more…]

Be “PrePRAYERed”

Life happens. (Profound statement, right? Or not.)

You know what I’m talking about. The life “stuff” that is good,  meh and “Are-you-kidding-me?!!”

It all happens. But really… our daily circumstances are neutral. Our reaction to them actually determines which category they fall into.

So today’s question: On a scale of one to ten– how much are you prepared to handle?

Believe it or not, we can all be closer to ten if we are truly prePRAYERed. [Read more…]
