God-Sized Dreams 2016– RECAP

I have probably mentioned it on here before… But I will say it again– the New Year is one of my favorite moments.

Not because I stay up late to welcome in the new year (because I don’t– at least not on purpose.) It’s not because I have an affinity for a celebratory adult beverage. (Um, hello… Still preggo. And so Young Living NingXia Red was my “stiff drink” of choice.)

It’s because each new year gives me an opportunity to reflect on where I’ve been and where God has taken me the last year… And maybe seek a few glimpses of where my Jesus-Journey might take me in the next 365 days. [Read more…]

God-Sized Dreams… And How They Change Us (Part 2)

Dreaming makes me happy. Oh so happy.

And excited. And giddy. And hopeful.

That’s why I love the New Year so much. Such an exciting time of renewal and freshness.

This week, I am chatting about my God-sized dreams. On Monday, I shared the very cool dreamy journey God took me on in 2015. If you missed it, no worries. Check it out here.

And now comes one of my favorite parts of blog writing: Revealing my NEW God-sized dreams.

Ready? (I hope so, because I can’t wait any longer!!) [Read more…]

God-Sized Dreams… And How They Change Us (Part 1)

It’s likely that if you have ever met me in person or been around 7 Days Time for a hot minute, you know a few things about me (in no particular order):

  1. I am a Jesus writer, speaker and spiritual leadership coach.
  2. I am an army wife.
  3. I am a toddler’s mama.
  4. I am a nerd.

I feel like we should sing that song from Sesame Street, “One of these things is not like the other.”

But honestly, they all fit together really well.

I don’t know when “nerd” picked up a negative connotation (probably in the 90’s– Thanks, Nerdstrom in Saved by the Bell) but I am on a mission to redefine “nerd” into something positive. And slightly humorous. [Read more…]

Have Courage & Be Kind #WilcoWednesday

Welcome to Wilco Wednesday! If you are a new around these parts, “Wilco” is Army-speak for “Will Comply.” Think of it as saying “Roger, God. Got it. Will do.”  So that is what Wednesday here at 7 Days Time is all about– exploring his decrees and seeking guidance for what complying with Him looks like in everyday life. The best part? He loves us for who we are, not what we do.  Remember: He doesn’t want perfection, just obedience. Share. Enjoy. Interact. And let’s respond to God’s call with  a hearty “Wilco, Lord!” Today, I welcome my fellow PWOC sister Holly to share a little piece of her heart.

If you have a little girl, or are a “little girl” at heart yourself, then you’ve probably seen the new version of Disney’s Cinderella. I am indeed that “little girl” at heart, especially when it comes to sweeping love stories with a good heart message. I’ve seen and read several versions of this romantic tale, but this one really grabbed ahold of my heart. Early in the film, as Cinderella’s mother is dying, she tells her young daughter “I want to tell you a secret. A great secret that will see you through all the trials life can offer. Have courage, and Be Kind. It has power, more than you know!”

WOW! What a message and I’m glad it was a running theme throughout this film. Why? Because I was bullied as a kid. A lot of it had to do with the fact that I lost my mother at a very early age, and my father wasn’t in the picture. And some had to do with the fact that I was a Christian. I was teased relentlessly. Blindfolded Trust #WilcoWednesday

Do you know what it means to trust? The actual definition is “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.” For today’s blog, it’s all about about trusting God.

There are tons of scripture that talk about trust. Here, I’ll give you a couple of examples.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.” ~Jeremiah 17:7

I love those two especially. But a lot of times when trust is taught in the church… it is also paired with hope. Hope is a beautiful thing. Hope is a lot of the times what keeps us going forward. But personally, the way I’ve been taught to trust and hope are that “God is going to give me the desires of my heart”. Hope for the best, if you will. Sometimes however, God says “No.” [Read more…]

If you have been around here for a few moments, you probably already know a few things about me.

I pretend to run. I love chocolate, reading, new journals and inky pens.

And I am a dreamer. Not the kind of dreamer that my husband regularly makes fun of my for like the weird stuff that comes into my head when I am sleeping (“Ok, so there I was with Abe Lincoln, a beaver and a giraffe…”) I mean the kind of dreamer who loves imagining the “What’s Next?” that God has for me.

Every year for as long as I can remember, I have always had new goals/resolutions/etc for the New Year. But 2014 was the first year that I literally mapped out some “God-sized Dreams,” per the inspiration of my URL friend Holley Gerth.  [Read more…]

I am a dreamer.

Not la-dee-da-head-in-the-clouds unfocused dreamer, but a dreamer that loves envisioning new milestones in life and accomplishing goals.

I love the feeling of flying high when I reach a seemingly impossible dream. You know the feeling. On-top-of-the-world-shout-it-from-the-rooftops kind of joy.

Dreaming is fun. Encouraging. Uplifting. And if our dreams bring glory to God (which most of them should), dreaming is a holy experience.

We might think that when we fall short of our dreams that it is a completely heartbreaking, negative experience.

But believe it or not, not reaching our dreams can also be a holy experience. [Read more…]
