Greetings all! It’s Five Minute Friday time… Whoot!
In short: Each Friday (OK, any Friday that my tiny 9-month-old baby human will allow) I link-up with Lisa Jo Baker. She gives us a prompt. And we write.
For, yep, you guessed it- five minutes.
It’s not something we over think or excessively edit. We just write. And it’s always a joy (and sometimes surprising) to see what happens.)
So let’s get moving.
Today’s prompt: REFLECT
AND GO!
***
I pick her up and carry her to the sink to wash her up after eating (smearing) baby food everywhere during breakfast. She knows what is coming and starts kicking with glee. As we open the door, flip on the light, she sees her reflection in the mirror… And this tiny girl, 9-months-old… Is pleased with what she sees. She lights up at the sight of her face in the mirror.
As I reflect on this daily ritual, it brings me much joy and makes me smile. But now I stop to think. Do I still react that way when I see myself in the mirror? Do I see an excited, smiling face, or one that is has a self-criticizing heart, seeing only my imperfections and failures?
Ideally, we should view ourselves how Christ views us… Because we are a reflection of His redemption.
Instead of dry skin, we should see Living Water.
Instead of frizzy hair, we should see the Calm in the Storm.
Instead of red splotches, we should see that we are washed white as now.
Instead of the sagging wrinkles of age, we should see Eternity with Him.
Friends, I encourage you to take a long look in the mirror. (Literally.) As you reflect, know that Christ reacts to seeing you the same way my daughter does when she catches a glimpse of her reflection. He lights up with joy. He loves you. He has died for you. He lives in you.
You are His reflection of redemption.
STOP!
