For Days When you want to Quit

We all have them. Believe me, I know it.

Honestly, at the time that I am writing this post, I am having a moment. An episode. A day.

A day that I want to quit.

I want to quit everything. My goals, my relationships, my ministry. But I won’t. [Read more…]

Challenge Complete: #My500words

I’m not really a resolution-y kind of gal.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all about fresh starts, especially when it comes to God’s mercies being new everyday or facing Monday’s with enthusiasm and drive. (Well, most of the time anyway.)

But for January 2014, God was all about the fresh starts for me. I didn’t make any resolutions. Instead, God called me to some pretty powerful God-sized dreams.

A couple of them are fitness dreams (one is that this asthmatic shall be running a 10k <that’s 6.2 miles!> in March) one is financial, a couple are spiritual. [Read more…]

Series Intro: Feelings & Faith

My little brother makes me laugh.

He is a teenager now, almost 16. (Which I find terrifying and slightly gross– because it makes me feel exceptionally old.) My little bro is a sophomore in high school at the time of this writing, has a girlfriend (AH!) and a mechanically wired brain. (He recently re-built the transmission of his truck after watching one YouTube video. What?)

Anywho, as awkward as this boy/man is, I love him to pieces. And even though he is growing up, some of his antics still make me laugh.

A few weeks ago, he was doing some Food Science homework assigned by my good friend/college roommate Kayla (known to most in our hometown community as Mrs. Taylor.) It was very science-y and one of the questions was “List one item that doesn’t have matter.” [Read more…]

Happy Friday, all.

No extensive strategy or thought process. We just let the words flow.

Here we go!

Get Risky (Link-up)

Welcome to another week of our Everyday Jesus link-up. Be sure to link-up below this post, comment on your neighbor’s blog and share with your friends… Because Jesus is everywhere, every day!

There’s something you should know about me.

I’m not the biggest fan of heights. Perhaps I should be more specific: I’m not the biggest fan of “risky” heights.

I can fly in a plane with little worries. I can climb a mountain (A medium sized-one, anyways. This postpartum bod can only do so much.)  I’ve been to the top of the Sears Tower and St. Louis Gateway Arch and managed not to flip out.

But when it comes to open air high-flying adventures? Um, yeah. No thanks. It’s gonna be a cold day in Orlando before you catch me jumping out of an airplane at 30,000 feet. (Sidenote: I know it can get cold in Orlando– the one time I was there, it frosted. So skydiving IS on my bucket list, but if I ever do it, it will not be premeditated, but rather a spur-of-the-moment-let-me-down-I’ve-changed-my-mind kind of thing.) [Read more…]

Haters gonna hate (Jesus gonna love)

If you wear your heart on your sleeve, you risk getting it broken by a stranger. But if that heart is a heart for Jesus, He will always protect and restore it.

Since re-launching this  7 Days Time website, I have been making more of an effort to suck less at Twitter. (Great news: I’m getting there and no longer despise it.)

However, when we do “dangerous” things like writing about our Jesus-hearts or sharing Scripture with the world via social media, we inadvertently invite the haters to stroll on in. [Read more…]

What you do makes a difference

We’ve probably all heard that theory about how a butterfly beating its wings can have an impact throughout the world.

Now, I can’t totally prove that to be true, but I can promise you that each small act of love or quest to glorify God can have huge ramifications– in a very positive way.

I believe many folks are under the impression that if you are going to do something, you have to go big. Yes, I have had my fair share of class projects or creative challenges that I have went above and beyond to get that “A” or make something memorable. (Or make my teachers roll their eyes. Whichever.)

But we forget that we can make a difference, even when we are living out the “mundane” of our everyday lives. [Read more…]

Hidden Ah-Ha’s: That’s a Wrap!

I really have no desire to be a movie director or live in Hollywood. Really, I don’t.

But if I did, I think the coolest things about it (in addition to talking through one of those big megaphones… wait, they don’t use those anymore, do they?) would be after months filming, reaching that moment when you are done.

As the cast and crew looks at each other with relief and nostalgia, the director starts to clap and says with tears in her eyes, “That’s a wrap!” [Read more…]

Our Own Set of Footprints

Hi friends… No Five Minute Friday post today, because my good friend Brandi is in town and this mama/writer/Jesus-lover wants a short breather. Plus, I want to honor Brandi while she is here. (My goal is to spend as little time on the computer this weekend as possible. Hoping for a recharge!) So please enjoy this little reminder about our footprints and how God moves us.

You can tell a lot about someone’s footprints.

No, I don’t mean what type of shoes they wear or what size their feet are. Footprints can often tell us where someone’s been… and perhaps where they are going. [Read more…]

Finding Jesus in the Little Stuff (Link-Up)

Welcome to another week of our Everyday Jesus link-up. Be sure to link-up below this post, comment on your neighbor’s blog and share with your friends… Because Jesus is everywhere, every day!

Jesus has done some pretty incredible miracles.

In the Bible, we read about Him turning water into wine, healing the sick, raising the dead.

Every now and then, He graces our household with a seemingly impossible miracle too.

He occasionally brings my husband and I to agreement on a movie to watch. [Read more…]
