Our Quiet Beauty

We live in a very loud world.

Now don’t get me wrong. I occasionally love blasting my favorite Christian radio station in my car with the windows rolled down on a bright sunny day. And I giggle when my daughter cuts loose a really loud happy squeal.

But sometimes quiet is a bit underrated. Especially in the beauty department.

Our world is all about the LOUD beauty. You know, the stick-thin-air-brushed models that pepper every dang magazine at the checkout stand. (Not judging, just saying.) Honestly, our culture is kind of superficial. It’s all about what size of pants we should wear, how to shed eleventy-billion pounds with no effort in 20 minutes, the name brand clothing and flashy make-up.

But what about our everyday, ordinary quiet beauty? The beauty that truly is more than skin deep.

Our Quiet BeautyThere’s nothing wrong with rocking a bit of feisty lipstick or wearing that figure flattering shirt or sporting extra-shiny blinging earrings on occasion just because we can.

But that quiet beauty? Yeah, that’s where it is really at. In His quiet, beautiful moments– that is where Jesus shows up.

We find our quiet beauty watching our two-year-old ball-of-fire daughter sleep.

We find our quiet beauty when our hands are full and someone opens a door for us.

We find our quiet beauty in the silence of a long-anticipated-tear-filled reunion hug with our beloved soldier.

We find our quiet beauty when we offer to change our “Me time” plans and instead go sit at the hospital with a hurting sister in Christ.

We find our quiet beauty in those precious moments of slowing down to give Him thanks for our most ordinary day.

Our quiet beauty doesn’t stop there… Keep reading over at Wives of Faith.

Spoiler: We find our quiet beauty IN HIM. For where Christ is at work, we experience a quiet kind of beauty that drowns out the roar of this world.

Dear readers: Where have you found your quiet beauty recently? Please don’t be shy– join the conversation and leave a comment.

Oh, and just one last thing… Always, always remember that are beautiful– the most Holy, quiet, reverent beauty possible. Because you have Jesus.

Beautiful In Him,
