I-Witness News Story #EverydayJesus

Welcome to another week of our Everyday Jesus link-up. Be sure to link-up below this post, comment on your neighbor’s blog and share with your friends… Because Jesus is everywhere, every day!

PS: After this post publishes, I am taking a brief spiritual pause from blogging– just for a couple of weeks. We are on leave (finally!) this year and I feel compelled to actively pursue my OneWord of Rest. I will be back soon… Thanks for the grace 🙂

Confession: I rarely watch the news.

Sure, I try to stay semi-in-the-loop-ish when it comes to major current events, but the fact that we do not have cable in our house is no accident. I don’t even like to watch the news on the TV at the gym. All it does is stir up anxiety in my heart, make me roll my eyes and whisper under my breath, “Lord Jesus, if you come right now, it will be none too soon.” #HurryUpLord

Our fallen world is a mess. We witness heartbreaking news with every change of the channel or with every scroll of our finger on Facebook. Very rarely do newscasters seek out “eyewitnesses” to share actual GOOD news.

But this just in: As Christ followers, there IS hope.

Instead of dwelling on all of the junk we are witnessing in this world, we can rejoice in how we witness God at work in our everyday. God takes our “eyewitness” mess to His “I-Witness” message. #SeeWhatIDidThere?

So that is where we are right now, focusing on how WE are witnessing God at work for our good and His Glory. We are confident that we WILL witness Him as we discover Real Love, Rich Life, Right Now!

Real Love Rich Life PWOC 3

But here’s the kicker: We have to open our eyes, ears and hearts to truly witness and experience all He has to offer us. I would personally like to challenge you to be actively looking for God’s hand in your life, family, ministry, in all the things at least once a day over the next year.

Oh, and it doesn’t have to be in just the HUGE stuff. Remember: Big or small, God cares about it all.

It may help to practice this I-Witness heart transformation through statements like the following:

Today, I witnessed God at work when I didn’t yell at my tiny human for spewing scrambled eggs across the breakfast table.

Today, I witnessed God at work when I extended grace to my husband when he called and said the army changed his schedule—again.

Today, I witnessed God at work as I asked the commissary cashier her first name and how I could pray for her.

Today, I witnessed God at work when I took my neighbor  a meal after her surgery.

Today, I witnessed God at work when I let that fancy sports car merge into my lane during rush hour traffic on I-5.

Today, I witnessed God at work when I got up 30 minutes early to spend some quiet time in His presence.

Friend, where do YOU witness God everyday? Jump in and leave a comment.

After we get the hang of watching God’s real love enrich our lives, we can take it a step further and start sharing these experiences with others. We can share the Good News with anyone who might need to hear it.

God doesn’t keep us at arm’s length. The fact that His Real Love came down and rescued us from our sin should be the number one news story in our daily life. Christ died on the Cross to give us rich life, not only right now but for eternity. We are privileged to witness that in our everyday.

And THAT is GREATEST news story ever reported.
