We are standing on the precipice of a new year.
In just a couple of days, that ball will drop, we will place new calendars throughout our house and welcome 2014 with (hopefully) open arms.
Beautiful and exciting thought, yes?
But then… after the confetti is cleaned up and the tree is taken down, it’s back to the grindstone. Same old stuff.
Or is it???
Friends, it doesn’t have to be that way. When we return to a “new normal” post holidays in a new year, we don’t have to feel all blah and let down. Instead we can treat each day with the enthusiasm and hope as is in our Hidden Ah-Ha verse for the week:
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” ~Isaiah 60:1
Is that a beautiful verse or what? When I hear it, I just imagine God’s glorious rays shining down on us as we stretch and open our eyes for the day. Those God-glory rays follow us throughout our day– if only we open our eyes to see them.
You might have noticed that this Hidden Ah-Ha verse is also the key verse for our ministry here at 7 Days Time. I searched and prayed long and hard to find a verse that would encompass our mission to encourage, inspire and grow not only our followers but ourselves.
And I pray it is accomplishing its mission as we speak.
Take a moment to think about your daily attitude– is it one filled with the glory of the Lord, or are your thoughts clouded with the worries and concerns of today?
It’s not an easy thing to master, but friends, lemme tell you what– when you experience the glory of the Lord, it is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.
What do you need to do seek and find God’s glory daily as we face this new year together? Perhaps start counting up your blessings (and writing them down!) Or praying for a word for 2014. Or learning how to give until it hurts by doing your own Factor of 7?
This post isn’t necessarily profound or overly deep… It is meant to be straight forward. God is calling us to something glorious, but we won’t be able to experience it without reaching for it. Whether it’s a big or a small change in your life or heart, if done for God, it IS significant.
So dear friends, get geared up to take action in 2014. Don’t worry about those resolutions, but instead seek to make a heart change. Live this verse. It is time arise and shine, for your light HAS come… And the glory of the Lord shines upon you– so LET IT SHINE.
Shining for Christ,
“Get out of bed, Jerusalem! Wake up. Put your face in the sunlight. God’s bright glory has risen for you.” ~Isaiah 60:1 MSG
