Coping with a Rather Loud Crowd (Five Minute Friday)

A few reasons to rejoice today, world… 1) IT’S FRIDAY! (That should be enough to put a smile on your face, eh?) 2) In this blogger’s world, Friday means it is finger sprinting time… Great training for my mind/body/heart. Hope I am all warmed up.

On Fridays, I link up with The Gypsy Mama. She gives us a one word prompt, then we write. For five minutes flat. No over-thinking. No editing. Just writing. Literally just going with the flow (of words, that is.)

Thus on that note, I do believe it’s go time. Todays prompt: LOUD.

Factor of 7: “Chill” with Jesus

I love frozen yogurt. And I love Jesus.

So what happens when you put the two together? A dang good, heart-healing, God glorifying experience.

Last night my husband, my cousin Hailey from Oklahoma and I had the chance to do our 2nd official monthly “Factor of 7.” (For more information on this movement, click here.) In addition to blogging daily for this ministry, God has laid on my heart to DO something at least once a month. [Read more…]

Raising the Stakes

At the very beginning of 2012, God chose my “word” for me to live out for the year. That word was “DEPENDENCE.”

It has been now been 80 days. What started as a seemingly simple challenge has blossomed into a literal life-changing experience.

In the past 80 days, God has put the following events into our lives… ALL of which have drastically built my dependence on Him: [Read more…]

Even Though…

God’s plan is perfect… Even though it can hurt like hell.

Last Wednesday, we lost the baby.

This is something I would not wish on anyone. I have never experienced so many emotions coupled with shock, denial and utter exhaustion in my entire life. [Read more…]

Pumping Iron with Jesus

“Ninety-eight…ninety-nine… one-hundred!”

Oh hey. Didn’t see you there. Sorry, I was just working out… you know, pumping some iron, getting in shape. (Does that sound a little too much like Will Ferrell in Anchorman?)

Obviously, I am not pumping iron… but instead am clicking keys. At a pretty rapid pace, I might add. But I didn’t get to this typing speed overnight. [Read more…]

The New American Idol

So, rumor has it that American Idol is still on TV, right? I personally wouldn’t know because we have disconnected our cable and I haven’t really watched it since Season 2 when it was a battle between Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. (I still think Clay should have one… And yes, I was a HUGE Clay Aiken fan. I even went to see him in concert my freshman year of college. Don’t judge me.) [Read more…]

A Flower in Your Hair

All right… Whoever thought up this concept of Daylight Savings time OBVIOUSLY did not work in ministry. Otherwise, they would have picked to either A) Not mess with the timing of our days or 2) Do the time change on a Friday night.

When you work on Sunday, Daylight Savings Time seems to be ANYTHING but a blessing.

But I’m not bitter. Seriously. It’s fine. Because I work for Jesus– the paycheck is better and the job is way more stable than anything the government can give me.

Now that I have THAT off my chest… [Read more…]

From Cluttered to Clean

Woooowwwweeee! I had a wild and crazy weekend folks.

That’s right, I spent  Friday and Saturday cleaning my house. Such a rebel rouser in my old age, huh? Actually, cleaning might be an understatement. I think “scouring” or “OCD organizing” might be more appropriate descriptions. (Um, I didn’t think nesting started for a few months yet? Holy cow.) [Read more…]

Five Minute Friday: Embracing Empty

Good morning all and HAPPY FRIDAY! (Can I get an AMEN?) I am linking up again this week with Gypsy Mama and her Five Minute Friday Fun.

If you are new to this five minute Friday writing concept, let me catch you up… Each week, Gypsy Mama gives us a prompt. Then we write. No over thinking, no editing. For five minutes. That is all.

Think of it like a finger sprint to the kitchen to get the last cookie. Only instead of cookies, I’m going after words. (Although a cookie does sound good…)

Today’s prompt:

EMPTY.

Ready?

GO! [Read more…]

Peace by Piece

Sometimes you have to be knocked down to get your balance. Or perhaps you need to be broken into pieces before you experience real peace.

I love it when God reveals concepts in a new and fresh way… which is exactly what happened to me last week.

My emotions, fears, hopes, feelings have been all over the board in the last couple of weeks. But during my quiet time last Thursday, God gave me a revelation that literally changed my life.

The amount of peace in your life is directly proportionate to the extent in which you trust God. [Read more…]
