A Book to Heal Your Heart (Giveaway)

In my three decades on this earth, I have been blessed with relatively good health.

But you know, not everyone can say that.

My online friend Shelly is one of those gals.

For the majority of her life, she lived what society might call “normal.” But a few years ago, her health took an unexpected turn.

It’s kind of a long story, but in short, sweet Shelly is now what she calls “chronically ill.” She struggles daily with things/tasks/life experiences that I can’t even comprehend.

However, that hasn’t stopped her from sharing about all things Jesus.

She has recently written her first book– and I have the incredible privilege of reviewing it.  [Read more…]

When More Is Not Enough (Book Review & Giveaway)

My daughter is a smidge over a year and a half old. She is saying several dozen words, but her current favorite word comes as no surprise:

“MORE!”

Everything is more. More milk. More fun. More whatever-is-in-mama’s-salad-bowl. More, more, more, more, MORE.

It is (kind of) cute right now. However, as she grows, we are gonna put the whoa on this more business.

When More is not enoughWhich is a great theory. But can be difficult in our society of more, bigger, better, faster, me, me, me.

Fortunately, there is an AH-MAZ-ING new tool that all of us Jesus-loving parents can add to our arsenal.

Amy’s new book, “When More Is Not Enough: How to stop giving your kids what they want and start giving them what they need.”

Check out the book trailer below (or if you are reading via email, click here.) Then keep reading for more details (AND A GIVEAWAY!)  [Read more…]

Spiritual Misfit (A Giveaway & #EverydayJesus Linkup)

Welcome to another week of our Everyday Jesus link-up. Be sure to link-up below this post, comment on your neighbor’s blog and share with your friends… Because Jesus is everywhere, every day!

I have to be honest… I have always been somewhat of a misfit.

Growing up, I would much rather read inside or go to the library than be frolicking outside in the spring weather.

In high school, I didn’t do ANY sports (unless you count cheerleading for one year.) Our school was teeny-tiny (um, 18 people in our graduating class) so really, anybody who was anybody played sports.

For senior prom, my date and I wore a duct tape outfit.

In college, I didn’t procrastinate– I always did my work ahead of time “just in case.” #nerdalert

My final college spring break wasn’t spent at a tropical beach somewhere… I was in a hotel ballroom at Missouri Auction School becoming a certified auctioneer.

Yep. I have always been kind of a misfit. And that stands true today. [Read more…]

We are PreApproved! (Love Idol Book Giveaway) #EverydayJesus

Welcome to another week of our Everyday Jesus link-up. Be sure to link-up below this post, comment on your neighbor’s blog and share with your friends… Because Jesus is everywhere, every day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a people pleaser.

I always wanted to get good grades in school. I was paranoid about forgetting something important for class, so I was that middle schooler who always carried around way too many school books “just in case.”

In high school, I was pretty self-conscious about my physical appearance as I was overweight. I tried to ignore it and instead embellished my personality to win others over.

I just wanted to be liked. [Read more…]

Why Your Weirdness is Wonderful (Giveaway!)

You might have noticed… I’m kind of a weirdo.

Seriously. I talk a lot. I am very picky about my writing pens (the inkier the better!) When doing a workout, I have this weird desire to end on a round number, usually to the nearest quarter mile.

Yep. I’m weird. And I hope you don’t take offense to this statement– but I bet you are little weird too.

But that is a good thing… Because dear friend, your Weirdness is Wonderful! [Read more…]

Welcome to a FRESH 7 Days Time! (And a HUGE giveaway!)

Sorry about all the CAPS LOCK and EXCLAMATION POINTS in the title.

But I’m  a little bit excited. I kind of want to make loud noises and be a bit obnoxious. However, I shall refrain. (For now.) So…

Welcome, dear friends, to a FRESH 7 Days Time (and a giveaway.) As you can see, we have drastically expanded and gave this ministry a complete makeover. (I refuse to say “new and improved” because if something is truly new, then it couldn’t have been improved upon… and vice versa.) Anywho.

This major website/ministry overhaul has taken about 12 weeks (God called me to do this myself and I am about as codex tech savvy as my 8-month-old infant.) That being said, I give ALL the glory to God… This revamp has involved more prayers that I can count, a few (or more than a few) squares of dark chocolate and about a thousand Google questions starting with either “How do I…” or “What happens if…”

But we’ve made it. And I couldn’t be more thrilled. Thankful. Hopeful.

So welcome. WAWHOOO!! <had to get that out of my system.) [Read more…]

Keep reading for the GIVEAWAY details! 🙂

Hi there compadres.

Long time no blog. (Ok. It’s only been like 10 days. But it feel like forever.)

It’s been an intense past week and a half unpacking, organizing, decorating (ish) and acclimating to our new home. We are plus or minus settled in at our humble little Washington abode (thank you, Jesus!) so it’s back to business as usual.

Well. Sorta. [Read more…]

A Latte Love (Factor of 7)

Yesterday at 5:45am, my phone alarm went off. But unlike other days as of late, I had NO problem bounding out of bed.

It was time for third month of Factor of 7. I was so excited about it, I woke up three times throughout the night to make sure I hadn’t overslept for our Jesus adventure.

As I write this, I can’t tell if my excited jitters are from the skinny caramel macchiato I had or the remnants of our Starbucks Factor of 7. (Talk about some legit Jesus Caffeine!) [Read more…]

Factor of 7: Barrett Keene & Go Walk America

I remember when I first met Barrett Keene.

It was May 2002. (UG. That was nearly 10 years ago. HOW did we get this old?) I had just finished my sophomore year of high school My friend Melissa and I were sitting in McCain Auditorium in Manhattan, Kansas at  State FFA convention. Some dude poked his head into our row and  started a conversation. [Read more…]

Jesus Caffeine

What gets you up out of the bed in the morning?

I am sure many of my more cynical or sarcastic readers would say “My stinkin’ alarm clock” or “That job I committed to working at” or “My extremely motivated 3-year-old child.” Perhaps I should rephrase that…

So… What gets you excited and happily out of bed in the morning?

What are the things that you could stay up late, get up early and spend hours talking about? [Read more…]
