My New-ish Niche (And Some Big Life Changes)

Hey friends! I know. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve last blogged.

Other than my blog teasers to my monthly Army Wife Network posts, I have literally written ONCE since May. (Remember? That was my post about WHY I wasn’t writing much… because things were starting to taste a bit like charcoal, aka, I was getting a bit burnt out.)

This post isn’t going to be full of excuses as to WHY I haven’t written much, because hey– no excuses needed when one works for “Jesus dollars.” But I AM still alive AND I (still) love Jesus! We all know that sometimes being obedient to Him doesn’t make a lot of sense (to the general public– or ourselves) in the moment.

But now? Now, it makes A LOT of sense. After five straight years of hardcore ministry and shepherding, my husband and I received a clear word that this new season of life was to be a transition, not just in a “home” location with the military, but in our walk with the Lord. We were to move from being shepherds to sheep.

Great theory. Hard to put into practice. I feel like I am learning to walk again– sometimes running around with my hair on fire yelling, “WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS!?!?!” [Read more…]

The Wheels on the Bus

Hi friends! I am taking a quick breather from creating new material on Wednesdays as I prep for an upcoming conference and lay some foundational leadership work with a one of my local organizations. I was digging through the archives and found this post worthy of a re-share. I pray you enjoy it! Thanks for the grace.

It’s been years since I’ve ridden on a school bus route for the sole purpose of getting to and from school.

Even now though, I still can’t see one of those big, yellow behemoths without being briefly taken back to my youthful days of riding the bus.

When I was in elementary school, we lived in rural North Central Kansas. North Central as in, seven miles from Nebraska. And rural as in, 90 (yes 90!) miles from the nearest Wal-Mart. So five days a week for year after year, I rode the big yellow school but from our house ten miles to town and back again.

My Kind of GPS (Recalculating…)

I’m taking a New-Mama day today…so that being said, I wanted to share with you a post that was written a while back- but is still very pertinent to our everyday walks with Christ.

We might not always know where we are headed– but He does. And His plan can sure be trusted. (I promise.) Let me know what kind of surprise turns your life has taken and how God helped you through it by leaving a comment below.

Blessings to you my darling readers!

The tires are humming on the highway. The radio on just loud enough to provide some background noise but soft enough to avoid drowning out the conversation going on between the driver and passenger.

“When do I turn?”

“Um, let me look. I feel like it is coming up.”

“Come ON, babe, its rush hour… I need to know if I need to exit anytime soon. Can I get over?” [Read more…]

“NO, don’t merge you are blocked in… This paper map is terrible. Our GPS says it is coming up soon.  What exit number is this?”

“122B.”

Cutting Corners– It’s a Good Thing!

Last Saturday, I got motivated. (Scary thought, I know.)  I woke up around 6:30am, ate my breakfast, had quiet time with the Lord, strapped on my tennis shoes and loaded up the pup in the car. We were going on an adventure.

Ok, so it wasn’t exactly an adventure that was so epic that it would appear on Discovery Channel or Animal Planet. But my little dog Sweet Justus and I decided to switch up our daily workout a bit and hit up the Riverwalk… And attempt break a record for distance/time. We were going “wogging” or “jalking.” (My combo form of walk-jogging hiking intervals.) [Read more…]
