Is it just me, or is postage mucho expensive-o these days? (I’ve been working on my Spanish…)
At the risk of sounding ancient, I remember when buying a book of stamps didn’t cost the equivalent to a first-born child.
Well, now I just sound ungrateful. I’m not. Really. I am so glad that we live in a country where we have such infrastructure to send things across the country for a handful of cash in just a few days.
(Super Random Side Note: I recently discovered how the term “Going Postal” was created. I stood in line in the post office during a lunch hour on a Monday. I had to pray REALLY hard to keep from going cray-cray. I am to be like Jesus, deep breaths, what would Jesus do?… Well, there I go, sounding all ungrateful again. My bad.)
Anywho, postage is expensive. As is all the things associated with the Christmas cards/update letters. (Pictures, printing, envelopes, etc.)
So until the USPS and Office Depot start accepting Jesus Dollars instead of human dollars, our Knobloch Family Holiday Year in Review shall be digitized.
Plus, all of our family-esque happenings are usually documented on this blog already anyways. #HelloHyperLinks
Let’s do a quick recap of 2015, shall we? Here goes, in no particular order…
*Charis is hilarious. And awesome. And sometimes frustrating. She is now 2.5 years old, mostly potty-trained (except overnight) and is saying complete sentences and asking (ridiculous) questions. She is also a professional tantrum thrower. And is starting to stink less (at least a little) when it come to sleeping. Although if she sleeps past 6:30am, we start wondering if she has contracted the plague. But she is a joy to our heart– and we love her SO very much! (Ok. That’s not really new news. But just in case you needed a reminder.)
*Brandon successfully graduated Ranger School in April. He went straight through, no recycles. #ThankYouJesus He is currently still serving as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant with a company here at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. We tallied it up, and we are pretty sure that between all of his training and traveling this year, he has been gone for a little more than 6 months total. (No wonder we missed him so much!) He is still a stud muffin. (Again, not news. But such is the power of the one who writes the blog.) Charis and Barn enjoy their evenings together snuggling in his new recliner, watching “a show” and playing the “Tickle” game. It’s adorable. Oh. And we are re-enlisting in the army “indefinite,” like this week. Eight years until retirement… (Not that we are counting, of course.)
*Justus (the dog) is still kicking. He still looks like a fruit-bat-chinchilla-dog-cat. His biggest worries are what percentage of food Charis will drop on the floor at mealtime and if he will get his solid 18 hours of daily naps.
* Me? Well. It’s been an interesting year. I kept our kid alive for another year (HOORAY!) so that’s something. I did a bit of traveling this year as Charis and I flew to GA for Ranger graduation kind of on a whim. I also co-facilitated the Skills USA Activate conference again this year in June in Louisville, KY. As a family, we also flew to Jersey over block leave this summer for Brock’s (Brandon’s brother) wedding.
I have also been serving in one of the most challenging yet rewarding leadership positions in my life as Lewis PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel) President. I am grateful that God continues to walk with me in ministry and transform my heart in various ways: My OneWord of Rest, taming my tongue/emotions, teaching me to be more merciful/compassionate, encouraging me to put faith into action with 30 acts of kindness to commemorate turning 30 years old (gasp), and overcome (ish) my people-pleasing tendencies. I also pretend to be artistic through Zentangling.
And fun fact: This is my 800th blog post. #WriteOn #SoPunny
Another tidbit: Starting January 1st, I will be transitioning into a role on Army Wife Network‘s Core Team as Blog Experience Editor. #YayYikes
Oh yeah, one of my big things this year– I ran a FULL marathon and didn’t die. (And had some interesting/hilarious mental commentary along the way too.)
God is already moving and shaking for our lives in 2016… more information to follow as it comes available 🙂
Dear friends and readers, I would love to hear how your 2015 went. Chime in and leave a comment (or a really long recap!) below.
I so appreciate all of you. Continue to pray for us in that we can walk confidently with the Lord in marriage, parenthood and ministry, giving Him ALL the glory.
(PS: Thanks for being so graceful and actually reading all the way to the bottom. And not giving us flack for not forking out the dough for “real” cards. #DoWhatYaGottaDo)
Merry, Merry Christmas!
