I was compelled to re-share an previously published post I about Easter… all about Rock’N’Roll. Especially that ONE rock that rolled to set us free…
****
Fun Fact: The Rolling Stones recorded 437 songs.
That is a lot of blues-ish rock and roll music minutes.
Pretty cool, huh? Now you have something interesting to share tonight at the supper table.
The Rolling Stones were a bit before my time. Like a hot minute. Or maybe a lot of hot minutes. I mean, they started in the sixties, so that was a couple of decades before I was even a possibility.
This band was pretty famous… which might be rather obvious since we are still talking about them nearly 50 years later.
But as famous as The Rolling Stones were and still are, I don’t share this information with you because I thought you needed more music trivia in your life. And I don’t share it with you because I am a former groupie (Again. Way before my time.)
I share this with you because we have a pretty famous rolling stone that we still talk about today…
One that was pretty significant this time of year… And two thousand years ago.
That stone on the outside of Jesus’ tomb.
Because of that Rolling Stone, Jesus gave us new life. He rose again.
And that Rolling Stone signifies hope for each and every one of us.
When that stone was rolled away on Resurrection Day, our futures changed eternally. There were just seven teeny words that give us remarkable hope:
“He is not here. He is Risen.”
Let that thought sink in for a moment.
Now, two thousand plus years later, we still recognize that Rolling Stone. The hope that stems from that Rolled-Away Stone, the man the walked out of it and the empty tomb is available for us today.
However, to fully experience the freedom that comes with His Resurrection, we have to roll away our own stones in our life that might be standing in the way.
We must roll away the stone of control and allow our resurrected Savior be the Lord of our life.
We must roll away the stone of unforgiveness and forgive as Jesus did.
We must roll away the stone of doubt as we trust God with our full heart.
We must roll away the stone of worldly thinking and focus on the eternal.
We must roll away the stone of misguided passion and live solely for Christ.
We must roll away the stone of anything that gets in the way, distracts or pulls us in the opposite direction of following The One who gives us life.
How would you complete this sentence: I must roll away the stone of _________? I alway, always love to hear what is on your heart. Feel free to join the conversation and leave a comment.
Take some time to REALLY think about the stones that need to be rolled away in your life. Consider what a difference that will make in your heart, your attitude and who you are living for… And ask God to help you make it happen.
Let’s rock out to The Rolling Stone– one that didn’t record any albums, but rather the One that changed eternity forever.
Let’s roll away our own stones… And become followers of The Man who rolled away THE stone.
Rocking for Jesus,
“But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.” ~Mark 16:4 NIV
