When More Is Not Enough (Book Review & Giveaway)

My daughter is a smidge over a year and a half old. She is saying several dozen words, but her current favorite word comes as no surprise:

“MORE!”

Everything is more. More milk. More fun. More whatever-is-in-mama’s-salad-bowl. More, more, more, more, MORE.

It is (kind of) cute right now. However, as she grows, we are gonna put the whoa on this more business.

When More is not enoughWhich is a great theory. But can be difficult in our society of more, bigger, better, faster, me, me, me.

Fortunately, there is an AH-MAZ-ING new tool that all of us Jesus-loving parents can add to our arsenal.

Amy’s new book, “When More Is Not Enough: How to stop giving your kids what they want and start giving them what they need.”

Check out the book trailer below (or if you are reading via email, click here.) Then keep reading for more details (AND A GIVEAWAY!)

Pretty cool, right?

Here is an “official” snippet to give you some of the professional, nitty gritty details:

When more is not enough, what is? Amy L. Sullivan believes no one loves harder and more completely than children. She also believes selfies, cell phones, must-have tech gadgets, and the sparkly allure of possessions lull kids into an insatiable desire for more. When More is Not Enough celebrates the idea of more: more prayers cried out, more time spent together, more use of our talents, more interest in strangers, more forgiveness of hurt, more of what Jesus taught us each day of His life. This book focuses on helping children grow generous hearts, tender spirits, and a deep compassion for others. Filled with biblical reasoning, real-life anecdotes, practical resources, and start-this-very-second activities, When More is Not Enough is for families who are ready to move from seeing generosity as a series of tasks and instead, turn it into a way life.

This book is a call to change our hearts. But it is not just any call. Amy calls us to action so beautifully– with moments that bring tears to your eyes and moments that will catch you belly laughing in public places. (There may or may not be something in the book about stealing an umbrella stroller and/or being on the side of the highway wearing no pants. Just saying.)

Amy has an incredible heart for God and wholly, “souly” believes in this cause. I literally read this book in less than 24 hours– and that was WITH my in-laws in town, a toddler to chase and a husband gone playing army.

We make His Kingdom come by raising a new generation of givers.  Right where we are. Starting small. With all that we have.

Buy this book. Put it on your birthday list. Ask for it as an early Christmas present. Better yet, win it by entering below.

I am giving away TWO copies– one chosen randomly by Rafflecopter and one for the most thought-provoking answer to the following question:

Does the current heart of the future generation concern or encourage you? What tangible steps can we take today to ensure that we are #RaisingGivers?

Leave your response in the comments, please and thank you.

(Winners will be announced and contacted in one week.)

When More Is Not Enough helps us discover the path of true and holy abundance, regardless of the size of our paycheck, house, our location or amount of availability in our schedule.

Enough in Christ,
