Just Willing (Five Minute Friday)

Five Minute Friday

Happy Friday to you, friends!

Friday means only one thing around these parts: Time to link up with Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday.

It’s like a word sprint for your fingers. She gives us a prompt. Then we write. For five minutes. No weeklong strategies or planning. Just write.

So let’s go!

Today’s Prompt: Willing

And Go!

***

With hard tasks, sometimes I am a feet dragger. I know something has to get done, like organizing a closet that is overtaking my house or doing that uber-hard workout. My mind knows I should… But my body and spirit are less than willing.

I don’t know why I hesitate. I am not a procrastinator by nature. Perhaps I am scared. Or just having an unmotivated day. Or I am concerned that whatever it is I am called to do, I won’t do it perfectly.

But here’s the thing: When God calls us to something, he doesn’t need us to be perfect or have all the details. He just wants us to be willing.

Our obedience to Him is more valuable to His heart than all of a man’s best-laid plans.

We don’t need to be feeling 100%. The house doesn’t have to be spotless. We don’t have to have all the answers. We don’t even have to get it right the first time.

Instead, God desires for us to just be willing. To trust Him. Seek Him. Follow Him. Cry out to Him.

To submit our heart, mind, soul and strength to His divine power and glory.

He just wants us to be willing.

STOP!

In what ways can we cultivate a more willing spirit when it comes to walking with God? Is He calling you to do something that makes you less than excited? How can we be willing even amid our hesitation? I always love to hear from each of you… Please feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks a ton for stopping by! Hope to see you right back here on Monday… And oh! If you are a bloggy friend, please swing by and link up with our #EverydayJesus community, currently in progress.

Here’s to a willing spirit,
