Sometimes I really take God for granted. Perhaps you do to.
Just think about how many times we nearly forget about God when things are going great then fall to our knees when our world comes crashing down.
If we aren’t grounded in faith all the time then those hard moments can turn into griping and grumbling sessions instead of petitions for help. I think there is a delicate yet very attainable balance we can reach with just a small shift of our perspective.
First, we should praise God all the time. We shouldn’t forget about Him when times are good. Those are the days that we can be singing His praises to the roof! Sometimes I remember to do this, other times… Not so much. As we establish this permanent heart of gratitude, something in us changes.
We begin to appreciate the blessings He gives us. Then, when things fall apart, we have the correct mindset to continue to praise Him while seeking Him for strength, patience, hope or whatever it is we are needing.
Plus, we don’t just have to survive those hard times. But we can look at those challenging days, moments and seasons and realize they are great perspective developers.
Because sometime we must experience the lowest point of the valley before we can fully appreciate the mountaintop.
Can I get an amen? This thought has been running through my head for weeks. Are the hard times fun? Nope. Do we enjoy them? Negative. But are they necessary? Absolutely.
In our weak moments, we can develop a deep appreciation for how good we really have it– and how GREAT it will someday be when we reach heaven’s gate and see Jesus face to face.
That gets me all revved up just thinking about it!
So friends, I ask you today: Where are you? Are you in a valley or on a mountaintop? What’s it like? In what ways can you see God moving? How can we cultivate a deeper appreciate for the valleys of life so that we CAN more richly appreciate the mountaintop?

Be encouraged today knowing that whether you are trudging through a valley or soaring on a mountaintop, God is with you. He has an incredible plan.
And if you have accepted Jesus into your heart, cling to this truth: someday, SOMEDAY we will truly be able to appreciate the ultimate and final mountaintop of all mountaintops.
We just have to make it through a few earthly valleys on our way.
Imagining the Mountaintop,
“Hallelujah! Praise God from heaven, praise him from the mountaintops!” ~Psalm 148:1 MSG
