Soul Generated by Love (MLK)

Next Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. day.

This day means much more than just a day off of school and no mail delivery.

Whenever I think of the great MLK, I think of service. I ran across this quote a couple of months ago and have been waiting to work up a graphic and share it with you.

Now seems like the perfect time.

MLK

As we reflect on Martin Luther King, Jr’s contribution to our world, let us keep a few things in mind.

First, we must remember that MLK wasn’t the first or most famous guy to do great things with a heart of service. I personally think that title falls to Jesus Christ.

All throughout Scripture, Christ reminds us to love others and serve with our whole heart (very similar to this quote from MLK.)

Another important thing to remember  that we too can serve. Actually, we should serve. Not only does it improve the lives of others, but it can add such value to our own.

Would you join me in this challenge? Would you commit to doing one small act of service out of love for Christ for someone else?

Don’t back yourself into a corner, thinking it has to be huge and you have to feed every starving person or adopt every orphan child in the world. (But if you have the capability to do that, by all means… get moving.) But let’s serve right where we are with all we have. Extend kindness, mercy or grace to someone who doesn’t deserve it. Hold the door for someone and say “God Bless.” Buy the meal or a coffee of a random stranger.

Remember friends, we don’t need anything to serve except for a heart for Jesus and a soul generated by love.

Serving Him Always,
