God’s Country

I have to be honest with you. Sometimes I worship best OUTSIDE of the church doors.

Literally. As in, out of doors. I’m not your hardcore sleep-in-the-woods-for-weeks-on-end kind of gal, but I sure do appreciate the majesty that is God’s creation.

Recently, as we were traveling across this great country per our move with the army, I had a pretty legit opportunity to worship God via His creation through 14 different states. We traveled 3,785 miles (but who was counting??) and I added hundreds of gifts to my 1000 gift list (that has now busted past 2000.)

That being said, today I would love to share with you a little somethin’ somethin’ from my heart… And hopefully you can relate.

And now… A poem. (Brace yourself. 🙂 )

GOD’S COUNTRY

Sometimes we find God,
In the most interesting of places,
Across this great world,
In various spaces.

From a long country highway,
Stretching the span of county,
I can’t help but rejoice,
In God’s beautiful bounty.

The wheat fields that whisper,
The starlings that sing,
The frogs croaking from the creek,
A melodious sound they do ring.

Skyscrapers of the plains,
Aren’t buildings at all,
But rather the grain elevators,
Standing majestic and tall.

A cool morning dew,
Greets me on the porch,
Then later a cheerful, dancing flicker,
Of an evening backyard torch.

We move into the mountains,
Snow-capped peaks tower high,
A pair of bald eagles,
Overhead they do fly.

In the distance I hear,
The powerful bugle of elk,
My heart overflows,
His great love I have felt.

The buttes, valleys and hills,
Streams, rivers and lakes,
God lovingly crafted this land,
His sweet time He did take.

God’s love is all around us,
Yes, this beauty is His,
I thank Him and praise Him,
God’s country this is.

Can I get an amen? I’m blessed… And hope you are too! Where/when/how do you worship Him best? Holla back and let me know by leaving a comment below!

Wholly His,
SGK
