Ever have those friends or people in your life that you just simply ADORE? I do– and today’s guest post is brought to you by just one of those such people… Kelli is not only my dear friend, but she is also a mentor, coach, “boss,” and encourager in my life. I have been privileged to work alongside her for over a year and a half, in which time we have laughed together, cried together and grown in Christ together.
She is a talented speaker and writer– so please show her lots of love (both here and at her site via leaving comments) as she shares her heart today on the latest and greatest edition of “Everyday Jesus!”
Be Blessed,
SGK

I remember running late taking my kids to school one morning several years ago. I was frustrated. They were in tears. Instead of speeding and risking getting a ticket or being involved in an accident and making my morning even worse, I decided to slow down. We were just going to have to be late. And I began to pray that God would show me Himself. “God, give me patience. Make me a better parent. Help my kids get their act together!” (You know, the usual prayers when you are late and frustrated.) Out of nowhere, a peacock came out of the woods and began to cross the road. Seriously. I thought I was losing my mind. I live in mid-Georgia. Last time I checked, we don’t have peacocks running wild.
Then I felt like God say to me… “Here is your gift this morning. Slow down and search for me. I am always at work. Look for me.”
Was my prayer for God to show Himself and a random peacock crossing a rural Georgia road a coincidence? No, my friend, that was a God-incidence. God showed up, He showed out, and I was aware enough to see Him.
Really, these God-incidences happen all the time.
Like the time I was telling my son that he the only two things that he had to do was to listen and obey. That was it! And God whispered, “Yeah, that’s it. That’s all I need for you to do.” Easier said than done, huh?
Or the time when I dropped my church ministry business card into a drawing at a restaurant and someone new to the community who was looking for a church saw it, pulled it out, and now calls our church his home.
Do we see Him? Do we seek Him? Everyday Jesus is at work… around us, in us, through us, and for us.
“When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” ~Jeremiah 29:13
Let’s not miss the gifts God has for us in the everyday things… your children’s laughter. A friend’s conversation. A moment with your husband. A meal with your family. Practice looking for Him in the everyday. The seemingly mundane. The ordinary.
And you might just see a peacock crossing the road.
