After a month-long (ish) hiatus, Five Minute Friday is back, folks!
Who’s excited? This girl! (I’ve missed Lisa Jo Baker’s finger wind-sprint work outs.)
For those of you who are new ’round these parts, here’s how it works: Each Friday, Lisa gives us a prompt. Then we write. For five minutes flat. No over thinking, no editing. Just going with the flow.
Then we pop over to her place and link up. Simple as that. (Where IS my Easy Button??)
Ready to get back in the groove? Let’s get this party started.
Todays Prompt: Opportunity
GO!
*****
Opportunity is a sneaky word. It can have a variety of meanings– from something that could positively change your life, or perhaps a nice way to say “this is gonna be VERY difficult but what an opportunity.” It can also be a big load of bologna (“This limited opportunity, buy one for $19.95 and get your second ______ FREE!” Yeah. Whatever.)
Regardless of the context of this powerful and mighty word, it is important to determine the source. Is it from the world? Or are we seeing it as an opportunity because we WANT it? Or is it from God?
Sometimes God opportunities come to us in disguise– almost undercover. I know that in my life He has called me to something or presented me with an experience that seems next to impossible… My fleshy heart self said, “PASS” but God said GO. Taking those undercover opportunities given to us by God and being obedient to His call probably won’t be easy… But it will be worth it.
We can trust Him with whatever He is calling us to– whether it is an opportunity we have been waiting/praying for a very long time or if it is an experience that thwacks us in the face.
Take a chance. Trust God. Embrace that Undercover Opportunity!
STOP!
*****
What undercover opportunities has God placed in your life? (Come on… Think deep– those things that looked impossible, but you obeyed and it paid off…) How did it turn out? How can you identify those undercover God opportunities? I always love to hear from you– please feel free to leave a comment below!
Here’s to keeping our eyes open (and hearts prepared) to embrace those undercover opportunities.
