My heart starts to pound. I can feel my blood pressure rising. If you listen really close, I am relatively certain that you can hear the gears whirring at a very high pace within my brain.
Yep, I am getting all wound up about something– again. Just another day in the life of this girl who is constantly seeking His everyday peace.
Le sigh.
Peace is abundantly available in this world, especially from God, but shockingly elusive.
At least for Type A personalities like myself.
So for today’s truth, I am going to shut my twitchy brain gears down and dig into this powerful and readily available aspect about God.
God is Peaceful.
This is such a powerful truth, my friend… One that keeps me going when my desire for control starts to choke out all the good things God has placed in my life.
Although I am really still discovering how to embrace God’s peace in my everyday life, I have already learned a lot about this truth. And in order to keep me from getting all wound up about how it sounds, I am going to stick with a simple list. Ready?
1. God is the source of Peace.
2. God is not stingy with His Peace. We can have it anytime we want, in any amount– but we have to get over ourselves first.
3. God’s Peace transcends our humanly understanding.
4. God’s Peace is never derailed by the circumstances of our world.
5. God is so peaceful that He never loses sight of how much He loves us– even when we mess up big time.
6. God’s peace gives incredible power and comfort in our everyday lives.
7. God’s peace is just one of many, many perks when it comes to having a relationship with Him.
I could go on… but you probably get the point here. God is peaceful.
Personally, I am guilty of letting the world try to steal God’s peace away from me on a daily basis. It is not cool and really I am cheating myself out of a great experience with God. In recent weeks, I have adopted this mantra: I will not let what is going on around me affect His Peace within me. (If you dig that mantra, click here for a nifty free printable just for you.)
So it is time for a little bit of audience reflection and participation time: On a scale of 1-10, how much of God’s peace are you experiencing today? What would it take to move you closer to a 10? I always love to hear your input. Feel free to leave a comment.
As always, I sincerely pray that this post encourages your heart. Dear friend, know that God’s peace is readily available to you, no matter how long your to do list might be or how your kids are (or aren’t) behaving.
No circumstances of this world can detract from God’s peace as long as we stay rooted and stand firm on the ultimate truth that God is peaceful.
Finding Peace in Him,
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:7 NIV
