Hidden Ah-Ha’s: Arise & Shine

We are standing on the precipice of a new year.

In just a couple of days, that ball will drop, we will place new calendars throughout our house and welcome 2014 with (hopefully) open arms.

Beautiful and exciting thought, yes?

But then… after the confetti is cleaned up and the tree is taken down, it’s back to the grindstone. Same old stuff.

Or is it??? [Read more…]

Change and Chocolate Mousse (Repost)

As the final days of 2013 are drawing to a close, many of us are probably prepping to make some changes for the coming year. Today, I want to share with you this repost (complete with a crazy-great-unique recipe) to encourage you to GO FOR IT in 2014! Change is good thing. Get some.

****

I’ve always heard that change is inevitable… except from a vending machine. Ain’t that the truth? (Yes, I said ain’t. I’m being grammatically lazy today.)

Change IS going to happen in all parts of life: family, weather, jobs, circumstances, finances, our age… everything. If it is such a common occurrence, why do we fear it so much? [Read more…]

Twas the Military Night Before Christmas

Merry Christmas, beloved readers, followers and supporters!

Here at 7 Days Time, we dig tradition, especially around the holidays. So this Christmas, I wanted to re-gift a lil somethin’ somethin’. (Hope you aren’t offended. At least it’s not a fruitcake.) This is a tiny reminder of WHY we celebrate this wonderful holiday. We are free to celebrate thanks to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and our beloved American Military.

A Christmas Salute to you all!!

*****

Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the base,
Soldiers were last-minute shopping,
Running all over the place.

It has been a crazy year,
Full of missions and drills,
But through serving their country,
Their hearts were fulfilled. [Read more…]

Up In Smoke (Repost)

Ah, Christmas is just around the corner… So I am taking a blog breather (actually, I am prepping for some new adventures in 2014. That and doing Christmassy things.) On that note, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite posts– a hilarious recount involving a $10 bill, a grill and fire… You can guess what happens.

A little over a week ago, I had a moment. Here’s the back story…

Brandon and I both had a crazy week… my beloved was working ridiculous hours since it was his duty week as Senior Drill Sergeant (See: really early mornings, late/tiring nights) and I was running like a lunatic trying to keep up with more church activities/duties than anticipated. [Read more…]

STAND ~ A One Word 2013 Review (And a challenge!)

With just a couple weeks left in 2013, tis that time of year for reflection.

It’s sure been a year. Whew. I think I need a nap. Or maybe some caffeine.

While it has been a busy year full of changes, it has also been a blessed year. Not just in circumstances (we have had our fair share of challenges) but really in heart growth toward Jesus.

My “One Word for 2013″ really contributed to that incredible growth. [Read more…]

Hidden Ah-Ha’s: Good and Faithful Servant

Some days I simply CANNOT wait until I get to heaven.

Now don’t take that the wrong way. I’m not looking for an early way out or anything. But on my bad AND good days, sometimes the idea of heaven is so intoxicating.

Our hearts desire to be there. A place with no pain. A place with no sad tears. A place with no suffering. And most of all… a place with JESUS. [Read more…]

Pobody’s Nerfect (Repost)

Hi friends… No Five Minute Friday today, because our good friend Lisa-Jo Baker is currently celebrating Christmas in South Africa (where she is originally from… How cool is that?!) So in honor of chill-ax Friday in this holiday season, I wanted to share with you an encouraging (and humorous) word about obedience vs. perfection. (Hint: God only asks for one and I bet you can guess.)

When I was a pre-teen, I spent a few days every now and then working in a little country store back home. Jeanie’s was a tiny place with two booths and a menu that consisted of cold sandwiches or fried food. She also kept in stock the “necessities” for life, including milk, eggs and toilet paper. (Which was really convenient since the nearest town with a “real” grocery store was 20 miles away.)

On the cash register hung a sign with words I remember to this day:

“Pobody’s Nerfect.[Read more…]

Merry Christmas 2013 (Year in Review)

Merry Christmas Friends and Family!

Tis that time of year (again?!?) for reflection and rejoicing on the events of 2013. Since this also serves as my complete “Christmas Letter” to my peeps (hey, postage is expensive when you are still working for Jesus dollars,) I want to share with you some highlights from our year… And the links that go with them. (No need to reinvent the wheel, right?) [Read more…]

Hidden Ah-Ha’s: Such Great Faith

Sometimes I wonder what Jesus would say about us if He was talking to someone else.

Would He acknowledge our faults but still gush lovingly? “Yeah, she is definitely human… But man oh man, do I love her!!”

Or would He share remarks on our skills and attributes? “We made this chick special. She can multitask like a champ and she is pretty resourceful.”

Or… Would He react like He did in today’s Hidden Ah-Ha as He referred to the Faith of the Centurion?  “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” [Read more…]
