Everyday Jesus: When Life is Anything but Everyday-ish

You know those folks whose laughter and smile are simply contagious? Today’s guest blogger, Laurie is just one of those gals. I “met” her online via our mutual friend Kelli, then actually experienced her awesome energy and Jesus-filled heart last summer at SheSpeaks. Laurie is authentic and enthusiastic, as well as an incredible writer. (In fact, she’s such an incredible writer that she will be getting TWO books published soon!) Show her some love both here and over at her place by leaving comments below! (Plus, be sure to connect with her site or click HERE so you can be first in line to get hooked up with her book(s) when they hit shelves! Oh. And rumor has it there’s a free e-book in the midst of all these shenanigans, too.)

Are you ready to be wowed? Get ready. It’s go time with our latest installment of Everyday Jesus!

Wowed daily by Him,

When Sharita asked me to share an “everyday Jesus” moment for this post, my first thought was, “Sounds great!”

Off I went through life over the next few weeks, eyes open for those everyday gifts and moments of goodness. Problem was, I couldn’t find any everydays… and without those, how would I do this assignment? [Read more…]

Yep. They are your friends. (Five Minute Friday)

Five Minute Friday
Greetings, folks!

It’s Friday, which ’round these parts can only mean one thing– time for a lil speed writing, heart-sharing Five Minute Friday.

For anyone who might be new, here’s the deal: Each Friday I link up with our favorite gypsy mama, Lisa-Jo Baker. She gives us a prompt, then we write. No over-thinking. We just write.

It’s pretty cool to see what Jesus comes up with sometimes when that timer goes off…  So let’s see what He has in store for us today.

Today’s Prompt: FRIEND

Jesus’ Funniest Videos

Let’s all be honest… Sometimes life is HILARIOUS.

I grew up watching America’s Funniest Home Videos (originally with Bob Saget.) While I never really understood why people thought that dudes getting hit in their uh, nether regions was so funny, I still enjoyed it. Plus it was relatively family friendly.

For me, most of the funniest things came from young kids.

Which brings me to share with you some of the hilarious things I did when I was younger. (Too bad we didn’t get them on tape. Maybe we would be a few thousand bucks richer?) [Read more…]

The ‘Where’s Waldo’ books and puzzles have been around for years….since 1987 to be exact.  Some are more challenging than others.  You’ve seen these, right?  Waldo and other characters are always dressed in bright red and white stripes, which would suggest that they would be rather easy to pick out in a crowd.  As it turns out, however, it’s not really that simple. Jump to Jesus (Five Minute Friday)

Five Minute Friday
Hello friends! Five minute Friday is back here at 7 Days Time.

As a recap: Each Friday (or whatever Fridays that I briefly have a free hand from baby girl) I link up with Lisa-Jo Baker. She gives us a prompt. We write. No planning, no overthinking, no excessive editing. Then link-up and share our posts with the online community. Good times.

That’s all there is to it. Simple. Yet potentially profound and a great writing exercise.

So before little girl says TIME’S UP before my stopwatch does, let’s get this party started.

Today’s Prompt: JUMP

AND GO! [Read more…]

Blowing Kisses

I believe that blowing kisses is one of the most adorable and simple (yet under utilized) acts of blessing, romance and love.

Think about it– when was the last time someone blew you a kiss? Was it your beloved spouse as you drove away on a trip? Or your child (or grandchild, niece, nephew, whoever) who did the audible, enthusiastic pucker blown kiss?

I just think the whole thing is kinda sweet.

But regardless of what earthly person is (or isn’t) blowing you sweet kisses… God blows us blessing kisses every single day. [Read more…]

Everyday Jesus: Coincidence?

Ever have those friends or people in your life that you just simply ADORE? I do– and today’s guest post is brought to you by just one of those such people… Kelli is not only my dear friend, but she is also a mentor, coach, “boss,” and encourager in my life. I have been privileged to work alongside her for over a year and a half, in which time we have laughed together, cried together and grown in Christ together.

She is a talented speaker and writer– so please show her lots of love (both here and at her site via leaving comments) as she shares her heart today on the latest and greatest edition of “Everyday Jesus!”

Be Blessed,

I remember running late taking my kids to school one morning several years ago. I was frustrated. They were in tears. Instead of speeding and risking getting a ticket or being involved in an accident and making my morning even worse, I decided to slow down. We were just going to have to be late. And I began to pray that God would show me Himself. “God, give me patience. Make me a better parent. Help my kids get their act together!” (You know, the usual prayers when you are late and frustrated.) Out of nowhere, a peacock came out of the woods and began to cross the road. Seriously. I thought I was losing my mind. I live in mid-Georgia. Last time I checked, we don’t have peacocks running wild. [Read more…]

Leftovers: Only For Eating (A Refresher)

As a new Momma… I am SUPER hungry. Like, all the time… And as I was thinking about a post to share with you all, this one popped into my head. It is one of the very first I wrote when we launched this ministry over a year and a half ago… And while my writing style might have evolved and developed, God’s message still stands firm.

Enjoy a fresh batch of God’s word– I promise His love is better than any leftovers you have waiting for you in the fridge.

On that note… I think I need a snack.

Chowing down with Christ,

Ready for a quick trip down memory lane? Sweet, let’s go. When I was growing up, one of my favorite foods was… (wait for it…) leftovers. Yes, we were the family that it was totally legit to eat the leftover lasagna from supper for breakfast the next day. I remember in middle school we were writing our “Newsletter” and did a survey of our tiny student body of their favorite “after school snack.” There was one write-in vote for “Leftovers.” Fortunately for me,  the surveys were anonymous and when everyone literally laughed out loud at the ridiculousness (practicality?) of the thought, I never owned up that twas I who wrote that as my favorite snack. From Seed to Orchard

When I was growing up, I loved field trips.

I mean, what kid doesn’t? It was an excuse to get out of the classroom, explore something new, educational (ish) and exciting (ish.) Plus we got to pack a lunch in a classic paper bag or cool metal (or plastic) lunchbox.

Some of my favorite field trips were trips to local orchards.

It probably stemmed for my love of agriculture… and also my love of food. (Rarely did these trip ever not include free samples of juice, fruit, candy, etc.) Plus, orchards weren’t a super popular deal in Kansas– wheat and beef, yes. Orchards? Not so much. [Read more…]
