Today, I would like to share with you our gift to my beloved parents in Kansas… It been an amazing journey for my family, especially as my Dad came to Christ in a Cow Pasture then was also physically healed in The Rest of the Story. It’s 5:45 am… I throw back the covers and my eyes pop open. It’s go time.
I swing my feet over the side of the bed. Oh, that floor is cold! I creep out of bed, down the hall, and take a deep breath. The moment of truth…
There, in the gentle glow of Christmas lights are piles of presents. Santa showed up and he did not disappoint. I grab the nearest gift with my name on it and violently shake it. Nothing. Dang. It’s probably clothes. Socks. Maybe even underwear. Sigh. [Read more…]

About a week ago, my husband and I were preparing to depart for our holiday block leave road trip that would take us from Fort Benning, Georgia to South Dakota to Kansas and back. Our car was loaded down, ready to depart early the next morning. Our refrigerator was completely bare so we could reduce the possibility of growing penicillin in it while we were running amuck. Thus, we went out for a quick supper and on our way home, I decided I wanted to peruse through the neighborhood and check out the Christmas lights. [Read more…]

Today’s family time in South Dakota began with a conversation about shoulder pads.
The topic was brought up by my beloved husband, and no, we weren’t talking about manly football shoulder pads. As we half-watched a rerun of Matlock, Brandon spouted off “Why does that chick’s shoulders look like that? Is she wearing… shoulder pads!?!”
Mama Lex (my mother-in-law) and I looked at one another. Here we go. This is gonna be good.
