In case you didn’t get the memo via the numerous Facebook posts, the shortage of hotdogs and burgers at the store, or the large late night explosive sounds…
It’s Independence Day. Happy 4th of July!
Today, we celebrate our freedom. What a blessing it is to live in the United States! (Somebody bring me a sparkler!!)
But even more than our patriotic freedom… Let’s celebrate our freedom in Christ. When He took His last breath on the cross, our chains were broken. We were no longer bonded by sin.
We have a hope and a future… And that’s even more awesome than fireworks and cookouts.
Check out this video for a little 4th of July pump up– it is the song “I am Free” by Newsboys.

Here’s one last thought to munch on as you head out to celebrate this glorious holiday. While we have been set free from our burdens and sins, let’s celebrate a “DEpendence” day by expressing our full, complete and total dependence on Him.
After all… He’s the one who set us free long before the USA was even in the picture. God gave us our freedom. Now lets give Him our dependence.
I pray that you all have a safe and blessed Independence Day… And I pray that EVERYDAY can be a “Happy DEpendence Day” in Christ.
Depending on Him for Freedom,

“Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free!” ~Ephesians 1:7-8 (MSG)
